HOME-AND FOREIGN. FORTY WORKMEN KILLED. Alexandra, July 10. Forty workmen lost their lives by the callapse of the caissou used in the erection of a new bridge. DISASTROUS RAILWAY COLLISION. Ottawa, July 10. Two trains convoying Catholic pilgrims came into collision near Quebec. Thirteen persons were killed, and 29 injured. It is believed that 23 have been killed and 4o injured in the railway collission. ENGLAND AND THE TRANSVAAL. Capetown, July 10. Sir 11. Robinson, at tire opening of the Delagoa Bay Railway, said the Imperial Government watched the progress in the wealth and strength of the Transvaal without jealousy. Her interests were identical with those of the other South African colonies. FRANCE AND AMERICA. Washington, July 10. The American Government has received the French proposal to settle disputes by arbitration without enthusiasm. They do not approve of its compulsory character.
