THE NEW ZEALAND LOAN.
London, April 28. The Bank of England will close the subscriptions to the New Zealand loan on Friday. The payments are to be made as follows:—2.s per cent, on Pith May and 85 per cent, each in July and August. Sydney, April 29. The Daily Telegraph says Now Zealand, in Heating a loan at .‘1 per cent., is setting 1 an example which is sure to be followed The departure may be a bold one, but it is undoubtedly in tho right direction. The Sydney Morning Herald can hardly see wind is to be gained by a change from !J,l per cent ~ as the money will probably be borrowed at an equivalent of that price. The Herald fears an objectionable use of tbc nominal rate of o per cent, will be made by politicians in order to make loans to farmers appear to be Jpl’ofitalrfe,
