The bidding has been exceedingly keen for quiet young steers and forward conditioned cows. Messrs Iredale Brothers’ clearing sale of stock was eagerly competed for, between 80 and 90 cows being sold at an average of £5 7s fid. Little or no allernin the values of sheep, the prices obtained being as follows : Cattle. —At Kakaramea : 3 year old steers, L 4 2s fid ; yearling steers, 30s ; 2 year old steers, L 3 10s ; cows and calves, L2 17s ; fat heifers, LB 10s. At Hawera, on 14th : Weaners, 20s ; yearlings, to 18 months old, mixed sexes, 28s to 31s ; 2 yield steers, L 3 10s ; 2£ to 3 year old forward condition, L 4 fresh condition cows L 3 2s. Manaia : Weaners, 14s ; 12 to 18 18 months old steers, L2 8s ; 18 months old steers, L2 13s ; 2 year old steers, L 3 10s ; 3 year old steers, L 4 10s ; 3 year old fat steers, L 5 18s ; cows, L2 10s. At Opunake : Store cows, L2 7s fid ; yearlings, to 18 months old, mixed, 31s ; 2 year old steers, L 3 10s ; fat, store, and forward, L 3 13s fid ; fat cows, L 4 10s ; dairy cows, L 4 to L4lss.
