It is understood that the prorogation of Parliament will not take place tomorrow (Ist December) as previously announced, owing to the delay which has occurred in the passing of the Premier’s resolution regarding the appointment of a “ Standing Committee of Selection.” In the House of Commons to-day Mr G. O. Trevelyan, Chief Secretary for Ireland, stated that if the leaders of the new Irish National League, Messrs Davitt, S. M. Healy (M. P. for Wexford) and J. E. Redmond (M P. for New Ross), continued to deliver speeches of an incendiary character Government would deem it necessary to prosecute them, and to prohibit all the meetings of the League. It has transpired that instructions have been sent to Sir Henry Bulwcr, Governor of Natal, to reinstate Cotewayo as king of the Zulu tribes at the earliest opportunity. Doc. 3. The Most Rev. Dr Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury, died last night, aged 71 years. CAIRO, Nov. 80. A report is current here to day that '' the trial of Arabi and other rebels will be entirley dropped, and that the preparations which have been in progress for-some time past are at a stand. The Egyptian Government have received a communication from the British Ambassador, stating that the English Government decline to recognise Baker Pasha as commander of the Egyptian Army. PARIS, Nov. 30. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day the Government announced that a Bill was in preparation providing for the establishment of a French trading protectorate over Tonquin, a northern division of the Empire of Anam.
