The work of levelling the two short lengths of permanent way, already let, is progressing with tolerable speed. About a dozen men have been at work since Wednesday on these two contracts. Two. or three short, lengths remain .to be tendered for up’to'the junction with the main line, and we believe the whole ground has been surveyed for tendering. , MAIN LINE. Probably some portion of the main line"new: the Patea river will be apportioned in contract sections, and announced for tendering, within two or three weeks; but this expectation may prove to be hi advance of the fact.
