LOOK TO THE REGISTER.

Electoks arc invited to inspect tlic 801 l for the Egmont district. It can be seen at the official places advertised, and we may add that the 801 l may also be inspected at the Mah. office during business hours every day. It is to be hoped that every qualified person in every part of the district will see to his proper registration. Nothing could be simpler. Let him inspect the 801 l which was made up and published on the Ist June, to see that his qualification is duly recorded therein; and if any

inaccuracy require correction, tlie elector should send written notice to the registrar. New settlers may always get friendly assistance, where the details ol registration are not clearly understood. They are entitled to registration at any period when they have been in the colony one year, and have resided in the present electoral district six months. It is not necessary that tin: settler siiaJl have been fixed in one particular part of the district. Ho is free to move about within the Egmont electoral boundaries, without losing his qualification as an Egrnont voter. Electors who register under the property qualification should stand in no need of reminder either as to their public duty or their electoral rights. They arc a privileged class, and it won hi be strange indeed if they could be indifferent to the advantages of that position. Persons not on the Poll, and qualified to bo so, may call at the Maid office, fill up a form, and have it sent to the Registrar, without farther trouble than the mere signature. The Mail has a political object to servo. It is the object common to every elector, namely the securing of equal rights, concessions, and subsidies, for this County of Paten, as against all other districts which have bettor opportunities for obtaining parliamentary notice, through members who speak in their name and vote in their interest. That is our policy. To give effect to it, the Register needs to be strengthened to the full extent of the voting power o this district.
