FROM TAGANROG GERMANS FORCIBLY EJECTED AFTER TERRIFIC FIGHTING (British Official Wireless.) (Beceived 10.45 a.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 30. Tonight's Moscow communique states that the German claim to have evacuated Taganrog, the big port on the Sea of Azov, is untrue. Stalin’s order of the da.y reports that there wa-s no strategic withdrawal, but in fact the enemy were driven from the port after fierce battles. The Russians occupied Taganreg after they had ousted the Germans who had been in possession for the last two, years. Over 150 towns anil villages were recaptured by the Red Armies who have thus cleared the Germans fiom the whole of the Rostov province, as the result of a threat to cut them offTile emphasis is on the offensive and advance in other sectors of the Russian front. Further north near Bryansk, ’Soviet forces have made gains of from three to 12 miles and have liberated over 50 places.
