GATEWAY TO GROZNY OILFIELDS
IMPORTANCE OF MOSDOK

The special Soviet broadcast announcing the captures of Mosdok and Malgobek, in the Northern Caucasus. was followed by the playing of the “Internationale.” This is the first time the “Internationale” has accompanied an announcement of a victory, showing the importance the Russians attach to the reoccupatiou of the “gateway" to the Grozny oilfields. The capture of Mosdok is the biggest success the Russians have yet scored in their northward thrust from, the Caucasus. Mosdok, a pi\otal town for the German campaign in the central Caucasus, is one of the main points of the trans-Cau-casian railway. It was captured by the right flank of the Rod armies the other flank of which, after crossing the Terek River, is forging north, via Nalchik
