TOTAL OF 280,000 MEN Altogether nineteen groups of men have been up for service with the armed forces. The total number of names gazetted is 317.553, which includes 34,494 who were paljed first for territorial service, ancl later for xpeditionary Force purposes. Tde actual number affected by call-ups is probably about 280,000. The total number affected by the Gazette notice ol last Wednesday was 31,997, embracing the remaining men in the first and second divisions of the general reserve, and leaving for future call-ups only those becoming eligible from time .to time because of their attaining the age of eighteen, or for other reasons
