CHRISTMAS DINNER IN LONDON (Special Correspondent.) w LONDON* Dec. 26. Four hundred New Zealanders sat down to Christmas dinner at the New Zealand Forces Club. They ate 2d turkeys, 50 Ohristmas puddings, 500 mince pies, 5 cwt. Brussels sprouts, half a ton of potatoes, nine Christmas cakes from New Zealand, and drank four barrels of bear, provided by Arthur Simms, ol Christchurch. They were waited on by 50 loluutary workers. The club was attractively decorated by voluntary workers, holly being sent from Warbrook which is the New Zealand forces convalescent home. Members of the Forestry Unit sent Christmas trees which were lit up with electric lights. Mr W. J. Jordan, High Commissioner, read messages from the Governor-General, Prime Minister, and Board of Admiralty, while messages wore broadcast home and to the Middle East. The King’s speech was heard and then the party began with prizes for dancing. Mrs Jordan was present and Miss Gwvn Jordan was assisting at the function. Brigadier R. S. Park and Air Commodore A. de T. Neville were among those present. Kiwi House was packed out with New Zealanders on leave. They had Christmas dinner at night when Lady Hewart was presf nt. Many New Zealanders were also at the Overseas League where Mr Jordan paid a call, and others were at the Victoria League.
