BOWLING AND TENNIS
CLUBS ENJOY LONG WEEKEND The favourable weather over Christmas permitted bowlers to advance all the club competitions namely singles, senior and junior; championship pairs and dub pairs. The third rounds are scheduled for completion by January 7tli. Dannevirke relieved Pahiatua 01 the various trophies quite early in the season soi club challenges are rare on the local green but- several bowlers of national competition ranking have been appointed to headquarters staff at the internment camp so, petrol restrictions permitting, the position may soon be reversed The arrival of new players is welcome to the club for the sake of the game here, irrespective of trophy play. Tennis players and bowlers alike enjoyed plenty of play over the week-end and greens and lawns seen this morning appeared to be in excellent condition.
