PLAGUE CONTROL
AN ENDLESS CHAIN. Many years ago, says Forest - anti Bird, Sable Island, Nova Scotia, was smitten by a plague of rats, to control which cats were imported. The cats successfully killed out the rats and then, being hungry, started om rabbits. So then foxes were imported to get rid of the cats, which they did. But soon foxes beoame a peso, for they satisfied their hunger with those birds th© cats could not catch an cl eggs. An appeal was soon made to' the Government to do something about the foxes. New Zealand lias had similar experience of the endless chain of unforeseen circumstances attendant on. the introduction of animals.
