Resolutions carried unanimously were as follows: “That tins branch recommends the Dominion Executive of the Farmers' Uuiou to co-operate with the Meat and Dairy Boards in an eiiort to establish a National Veterinary Service, to be under the control of the various farming organisations. And with that objecs in view we suggest the establishment of a Chair of Veterinary Science for students of the Dominion.’ “That this branch of the Farmers Union make representations to the Government with a view to releasing from taxation that portion of' a farmer's income which would ordinarily go to the maintenance of the productive capacity of the land, as it considers it an injustice to take in taxation, money which, if labour and fertilisers were available would be utilised to maintain a property in good producing order aud repair; and not to leave the farmer at a later stage to face heavy expenditure, with greatly depleted funds. After the resolutions had been passed Mr T. J. Cotter rose and said that he would like to make one or two references to the chairman. The branch was very fortunate, said Air Cotter, in having such an efficient and capable chairman as Mr Bremner. He took the keenest possible interest in the affairs and activities of the Union and it was mainly due to his energy and ability that the branch was on such a sound looting, and was so very w ate lit ul and alert in all matters which concerned the welfare of the man on the land. Similar sentiments were voiced by other speakers and a resolution appreciative of Air j Bremner’s services was carried by acclamation Mr Bremner thanked Air Cotter for his kind remarks adding that "as a rule a chairman got more kicks than halfpence.” A very successful meeting was concluded by the chairman wishing members “The of the Season.’
