AKITIO WOMEN’S PATRIOTIC SOCIETY. (Own Correspondent) There was a small attendance at the meetjng of the Akitio Women’s Patriotic Society on Friday last, Mrs Maymau presiding Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. Mecck, S. C. Humphries, and R. Hollis. An acknowledgment of sympathy expressed in her recent bereavement was received from Mrs C. Hodder. A letter of thauxs was received from Mrs G. Mclsaacs for the usual pcisoner-of-war panel donation. The following local boys wrote expressing their thanks for parcels received:—Bdr. J. E. Hartgill. Gjnr. M. T. Harold, Sgt. SGainey, Dvrs. J. McLaren, alia L. Berry. The recipients of four "government” parcels made acknowledgment. Jt was unanimously agreed to have this county’s quota of government parcels (90) packed 'in Wellington. The society acknowledged the following donations to its Panels Fund: Mrs L. Ballantvne £2. Mrs A. Mason, snr.. 3s 6d and 2 black fleeces for sale, Mrs G. H. Leach 6s. A bundle of linen was received from Mrs Allan Beech. During the afternoon two bed shirts and several hotwater bottle covers wen- made up for the Red Cross. It was decided not to hold a meeting in January. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames M. Moynihan and R C. Scott PERSONALS. Kuttson and family are spending the holidays in Hastings. Miss* B. Johnston. Wellington. *s spending the- Christinas vacation with her parents. Mr and Mrs L. Johnston. Mr and Mrs L. Pickering, Feeding, and Mr and Mrs K. F Kent. Sanson, are visiting Mi and Mrs P. R. Kent during Christmas. Mr and Mr s R. Coojx*r are spending Christmas in Masterton. Miss H. Beresford. Wellington, is spending Christmas at Forest Flat. Mr and Mrs F. H. May man have left on holidays in Waipuknrau. Mr K. J. Knowles and family are spendinsr the liolidays at Foxton. Sgt P. Gibbons is spending leave with his parents. Mr and Mrs J. H. G ibbons, Wa ione. Afr and Mrs A. M. Theed and family have left to spend Christmas at Afarton. Afr and Mrs G. Jones. Wades town, are visiting Mr and Mrs R Hollis.
