AKITIO WOMEN’S PATRIOTIC SOCIETY. (Own Correspondent) There was a small attendance at the meetjng of the Akitio Women’s Patriotic Society on Friday last, Mrs Maymau presiding Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. Mecck, S. C. Humphries, and R. Hollis. An acknowledgment of sympathy expressed in her recent bereavement was received from Mrs C. Hodder. A letter of thauxs was received from Mrs G. Mclsaacs for the usual pcisoner-of-war panel donation. The following local boys wrote expressing their thanks for parcels received:—Bdr. J. E. Hartgill. Gjnr. M. T. Harold, Sgt. SGainey, Dvrs. J. McLaren, alia L. Berry. The recipients of four "government” parcels made acknowledgment. Jt was unanimously agreed to have this county’s quota of government parcels (90) packed 'in Wellington. The society acknowledged the following donations to its Panels Fund: Mrs L. Ballantvne £2. Mrs A. Mason, snr.. 3s 6d and 2 black fleeces for sale, Mrs G. H. Leach 6s. A bundle of linen was received from Mrs Allan Beech. During the afternoon two bed shirts and several hotwater bottle covers wen- made up for the Red Cross. It was decided not to hold a meeting in January. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames M. Moynihan and R C. Scott PERSONALS.
