PRISON TERM IMPOSED. -’uifced Press Assn. —By Electric PALMERSTON N., June 22. Answering a charge of failure to report for military seivice, Douglas Joseph Cameron McDonald, farmer. Levin, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment by Mr Lawry. S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court. Palmerston North- today. Evidence showed defendant was included in a ballot in March, 1941, and after a medical examination, refused to take the oath. His appeal or* grounds of conscience and undue hardship had been dismissed. w anganuT - da se. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI, June 22. In th© Magistrates’ Court today. Edgar Thomas Forne, mill hand, aged 22 years was charged with failing to report for military service at the Drill Hall on May 25. When asked whether he was prepared to obey the authorities, he said he was a conscientious objector, and bad already give© his reasons why he was not prepared to serve when his ease was heard by the Appeal Board. H© was ordered to be detained in a defaulters’ detention camp during the period of the war
