MIX-UP IN SHOW DATES

FE lb DING WANT A SATURDAY

Very lecent correspondence received by the Secretary of the Pahiatua A and P. Association would suggest that there is going to be a general mix-up in connection with next year’s c'ates of the Feilding, Woodville, Pannevirke, Pahiatua and Masterton Shows. It would appear that Feilding is anxious to secure a Saturday in February as the second day of its annual fixture. If the request of the Feilding A,, and P. Association is gianted it will mean a complete alteration of the dates of all the other Shows in the circuit, and this is causing a good deal of uneasiness amongst the other Shows concerned, as the position would appear to be very complicated. There are two councils—Eastern and Western—governing Show matters in the Wellington, Hawke’s Bay and Taranaki districts, and it is understood that the Western Council agreed upon certain dates without getting the wishes or the decisions of the various Shows concerned. There will be a meeting of the Eastern Council at Hastings tomorrow when the whole position will be discussed The secretary of the local A. and P. Association has notified the Royal Agricultural Society, the Eastern Council, and the Feilding A. and P. Association that Pahiatua will hold its next Show on February 10th (Saturday) 1010—the usual date. The whole matter i s to be discussed this evening tv hen the executive of the local A. and P. Association will meet, in addition to which a balance-sheet ot the recent Show will be presented.
