KONINI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
THE MONTHLY MEETING. Cane work was the order of the day at the Konini Women’s -Institute meeting on Thursday last. Mrs Bruce, of Mangamaire, kindly came and gave members a lesson on how to make a cane tray. Several members started trays and all seemed keen to learn. Airs Connell presided over the meeting and the “Ode to Friendship'’ was sung. The next year’s committee were nominated and the competition arranged for March is best pot of jelly and jar -of preserves. This month’s competition, date scones, was won by Airs Aliller, Airs C. Atabey being second, and the best bloom from the garden resulted in a tie between Miss Brown and Airs Aliller. Both competitions were kindly judged by Airs Bruce and Aliss GallUgher. The hostesses were Airs Hirst and Airs Avery, who served a dainty afternoon tea, after which the National Anthem was sung and the afternoon brought to a close all too .soon.
