TRIBUTE TO THE POPE

The Archbishop of Canterbury paid a tribute to the Pope’s unswerving efforts for peace. He said he was a man of sincere piety and bore his immense burdens with dignity and courage. MUSSOLINI PAYS RESPECTS CONDOLENCES FROM HITLER (Received 10.4 a.m.) VATCAN CITY, February 10. Mussolini and Count Cia.nc visited the Vatican to pay their last respects. Hitler sent a message of condolence. Flags are flown at halfmast in Rome, Berlin and Paris. It is officially announced that the Cardinal’s meeting will be held on March 3 and not February 28. The remains of the Pope are lying in State in the Sisting Chapel for three days All public spectacles are forbidden and the Italian court will observe eight days mourning. Mussolini sent the following message to Cardinal Pa,e----elli: “The disappearance of the .Pope of Conciliation means mourning for the Church and the Italian people.
