SHORTAGE OF LABOUR.
SITUATION IN GERMANY. (Received 11.18 a.b.) United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copvright. BERLIN, February 9. Germany’s need for more labour for industry is dealt with in an official report in which there is a hint of longer hours and harder work. Last year’s new sources included 150,000 combed from the unemployed and 670,000 mobilised from domestic employees and pensioners, but despite this it is estimated that there will be a deficiency of a million workers in 1939 for which rationalisation and more intense use of existing labour is necessitated.
