CENTENIAL MEMORIAL PROPOSALS.
WAIRARAPA ALLOCATION OF COSTS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association MASTERTON, February Representatives of district local bodies from Pahiatua to Martinborough attended a meeting in Mastertou to-day, when centennial memorial proposals were discussed. The mayor oi Masterton (Mr T. Jordan) presided. The meeting, after a full discussion. approved of a proposal that the Wellington provincial memorial be a swimming pavilion and hall on the Petone beach. and it was also agreed to the proposed allocation ol the total cost, £IO.OOO. less a Government subsidy*. The Wairarapa allocations were as follows: Akitio County, £8; Carterton Borough, £l3; Castlepoint County, £4: Eketahuna Borough £5 ; Pahiatua County, £l9; Pahiatua Borough, £ll. W< Ilington city is to provide £3OOO and the Hutt Valiev £ IOOO. The meeting considered that the allocation was a most reasonable one. The allocation is based on a population basis and is to be found either by public subscription or out of rate receipts.
