HEAD-ON COLLISION
IN THE MAIN STREET t ACCIDENT ON SATURDAY NIGHT. A head-on collision between two Austin Sevens occurred in the Main Street at the south end of the town about 9 p.m. on Saturday. A car driven by Mr Norman Check! ey, farmer, ot Hinoinoa, was proceeding north on the .Main Street, and wan approaching Tonkin s service station. As the car puiled towards the service station, i «e into collision with another oafl/lpy-’ en by Mr lau Thomas Daysh, w"ch was proceeding in the opposite direction, the cars colliding head-on. No one was seriously injured, apart from slight cuts, which, were attended by Dr. Paterson at the scene of the accident. Both cars carried paasengers, Miss Jean Booth in Mr Daysh s and Mr Hector Hentual in Mr Checkley’s car. Mr Keutual was taken to hospital for observation, but was discharged on Sunday morning. Mr Checkley’s car had its radiator pushed in, and the front axle pushed under the chassis, and was removed to Terry’s garage for repairs, while Mr Daysh's car. which sustained damage to ihe radiator, was taken to Barrett's garage.
