LOCAL HAPPENINGS.
A meeting of those willing to assist in .arranging the annual school party will be held in the Pahiatua Trust and Agency office on Monday June 27 at 8 p.ra.
The Athletic Basketball Club will hold their annual ball on Wednesday July 6 in the Foresters’ Hall. Godson’s Aces have been engaged to supply the music and admission prices have been fixed at a very reasonable level. A good night’s fun is assured for all.
The 44th birthday of the Duke of Windsor fell yesterday. He was born on June 23, 1894, and succeeded to the throne on January 20. 1936, after the death of liis father King George V. December 11, 1936, he abdicated and he is now living with his wife, in France, formerly Mrs. Wallis Warfield Simpson.
The following will represent the Pahiatua Thirds against Eketahuna 0.8. at Eketahuna at 2 p in. on Saturday:—Beals, Veale (3), Glassey, Morgan, Burke, Meade, Bentley, (’road, Teahan, Mills, Paget and Gunn. (2). Emergencies: Devonshire, Howry and O’Donnell All players are asked to be at Hannah’s Corner at 1 pm. sharp.
The Pahiatua branch of the National Party will hold a euchre party and dance in the Foresters’ Hall on Tuesday July o. There will be dancing from 8 till 1 and cards for those not wishing to dance. Generous prizes have been provided for competition m both cards and dancing. Ken Hicks’ orchestra has been engaged to supply the music and there will be a delicious savoury - supper.;
