SERVICES APPRECIATED
PRESENTATION TO AIR H. R. WILTON. At last night’s social to welcome the -Rt. Rev W. H. Howse. 8.A., Aloderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian. Church of New Zealand, the opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Air H. R. Wilton in recognition of his long service to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Armstrong told how Air Wilton had always served the Church with great diligence, and faithfulness and although be was now 7 81 years of age lie was still on the job and was well known to all the congregation with his welcoming
smile at the Church door. He said jt had been decided to take this opportunity of recording the Church’s appreciation of the work both Air anj Airs Wilton had done. Air L. Holdaway said he was very pleased indeed to be connected with the presentation and on behalf «.f the Session thoroughly endorsed the Rev. Armstrong’s remarks. It must be he said over 40 year s sine© Air Wilton had first served the Church and right through the years he had been ever constant, always giving flic* congregation a cheery welcome- as he handed out the. hymn books. He hoped bc>th Air and Airs Wilton would be spared to them for many years to dome. The Rey. Howse in presenting Air Wilton with a handsome reading lamp on behalf of the- congregation said the token of esteem eauied with it the love and best wishes of tho members and Afinister of St. Paul’s Church. Air Wilton replying said he wis taken by surprise but deeplv thanked everyone for their kindness. He i of erred to the early days in the* district, saying that whatever he had done in* had been pleased indeed to do. He said it was 50 rears since he first came to the district and had attended St. Paul’s ever since Air Wilson concluded bv again thanking all for himself and Airs Wilton for their kindness.
