INTOXICATED CAR DR J V ER. Electric Telegraph—’Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, June 22. Thomas Edridge, a farmer, was fined £75 when he appeared in the Alagistrate's Court at Kaiapoi and admitted he had been intoxicated while in charge of a car. Delault of payment of fin/e was fixed at three months’ imprisonment. His diiver’s license was cancelled and he was prohibited from obtaining another for leur years. Constable J. Holmes said that Edridge, who was well known as a North Canterbury farmer, had admitted that he consumed six beers in Christchurch before he left Christc burch for his home, travelling by way of Rangiora. The police signalled to him to stop when he passed through Kaiapoi with only one light burning but he did not so do. Edridge was driving somewhat erratically, tho constable proceeded, and Traffic Inspector Tail overtook and stopper! Edridge and brought him to the police station, where a doctor certified lie wxs not in a fit state to drive a car.
