JUSTICE NORTHCROFT TO RESCUE
HOW MUCH A “SQUARE RIGGER” CONTAINS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 22. On the question of beer and its containers Justice Northcroft came to the resc le of the counsel and witness during a hearing of a divorce petition in the Supreme Court when witness mentioned drinking of a “square rigger” of beer. Counsel wrnted to know how much beer a “square rigger” contained. “I don't know,” said witness. “Perhaps I could heli> counsel in that,” suggested His Honour. “A square rigger contains a little over two imperial pints.”
