BLOMFIELD DISQUALIFIED.

DISOBEYED THE REFEREE. Electric Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, Last Night. A spectacular wrestling contest between “Lofty” Blomfield and Floyd Marshall, held at Hamilton, had a disappointing finish in the sixth round, in which Blomfield, although he had the match in hand, was disqualified. The first four rounds were full of interest, both men exploiting punishing holds. In the fifth round Blomfield converted a Japanese leg throw into an octopus clamp, and with the assistance of the ropes secured a fall. Marshall was apparently disabled, and Blomfield could easily have secured a deciding fall when the gong sounded for the sixth round. Instead h© jumped at Marshall several times while the latter was sitting in a dozed condition on the ropes, and his repeated disobedience of the referee’s orders to keep back resulted in his disqualification. WOODS AND CHRISTY DRAW. PALMERSTON N Sept. 9. Mixing straight wrestling with elbow jolts. Vic. Christy. 16.1. drew with Joe Woods, 15.8. in a match at the Opera House to-night. Woods took the first fall in the fourth round when, following a series of elbow jolts and hatches, he dum|>ed Christy and pinned him with a body-press. Christy evened the falls in the seventh round with a figurefour body scissors. The last round saw "Woods escape from a severe rocking-chair splits with a swiftlydeveloped deathlock on Christy. Christy gained liis release by turn.eg it into a splits, only to b© trapped in a deathlock again, from which he escaped by manoeuvring Woods into a lying splits. Christv earned the applause of the crowd when he escaped from a boston crab in the fifth round and a surf-board in the sTxth by sheer strength.. Christy was tlie favourite and Woods earned disfavour by repeated elbow jolts and strangleholds.
