CARTRIDGE EXPLODES.
YOUNG GIRL SLIGHTLY HURT. Electrio Telegraph—Press Association WAIPUKURAU. Last Night. A somewhat, alarming incident took place at tlic residence of Mr W. Spicer on Wednesday evening. A piece of firewood suddenly exploded, blowing out the front* of th» kitchen stove. A splinter struck a gill sitting some distance away from the fire, causing a cut, which fortunately was not serious. Portions of ail old cartridge case were found among the debris, and it is believed that the cartridge, lost on a pig-hunting expedition, had been
“absorbed” by a growing tree to beconie a potential danger when the tree was cut up for firewood.
