SKINS OF BABY LAMBS.
USES AND TREATMENT. A member of the Women’s Institute forwards the following, which may be found useful by women members of the farming community: Sheepfarmers at this time of year lose many baby lambs. Their skins can, with a little treatment, be made into a nice covering for soft toys for little children. They also have many more uses, too numerous to mention Method of treatment: Skin the dead lamb, nail the skin to a wall or flat surface, woolly side in, fleshy side out. It will not matter if the sun shines on it, but it mu t not be exposed to wet weather. V\ ith a soft cloth dipped in kerosene, rub gently the fleshy side each morning until all smell disappears. This takes about 10 days. The skin can then be washed and dried the same way as a woollen (garment. Then it is ready for use. In the curing, be sure the skin is stretched to its full extent. I leiive it to people's good nature if they can add any more advice to that already mentioned
