The Guardian's Shanghai eoriespondent says that the Japanese Ambassador has presented the Chinese Government with a series of demands, the most important of which are:— Firstly, autonomy in five northern provinces. Secondly, economic co-operation Thirdly. the right to station troops at various points along the Yangtse.
