The Guardian's Shanghai eoriespondent says that the Japanese Ambassador has presented the Chinese Government with a series of demands, the most important of which are:— Firstly, autonomy in five northern provinces. Secondly, economic co-operation Thirdly. the right to station troops at various points along the Yangtse. Fourthly, the right to supervise Chinese schools in order to eradicate anti-Japanese propaganda. It is understood the Chinese have intimated that the proposals are not acceptable.
