Eddie is cast as a timid fellow who takes a. correspondence course in acquiring a dominating personality and becomes manager oi Dreamland Amusement Park.- Here lie becomes involved with a gang of slot machine racketeers who have put every previous manager on the spot. The gangsters learn that Eddie secretly adores a glamorous night club star, played by Ethel Merman. This lady is really the wife of one ot their number and they us© her as a “come-on ’ to trick Eddie Into installing their fake slot machines. Sally Filers, seen as Eddie's Dreamland sweetheart; Harry Parke, better known as the Greek dialectician Parkyakarkus of radio fame; William Frawley and the 1936 crop of Goldwyn girls are featured beside Ethel Alerman in the comedy which Norman Taurog directed. Also prominent in the cast are Helen Lowell, Gordon Jones, Brian Donlevy, Jack Laßuo, Sunnie O'Den and Rita Rio. “Strike Ale Pink” is based on Clarence Budington Holland's Saturday Evening Post story and novel. “Dreamland.” Frank Butler. Walter De Leon and Francis Alnrtin collaborated on the adaptation and screen play. Harold Arlen and LewBrown wrote the music and lyrics and Robert Alton directed the dances and ensembles.
