EXCITEMENT FOR HOKITIKA Electric Telegraph—Press Association GRTA MOl PH. September 27. The motor- vessel Hokitika, when, entering tlm port on Saturday evening at Hokitika* ioutui the' channel most difficult to negotiate and grounded. Hur bow stuck for some time. However, the export seamanship of Captain Xalder enabled the vessel to be manoeuvred seaward, despite the steering gear having jammed. At the third attempt Captain Xalder succeeded in negotiating the bar and reached the wharf saioly. The vessel's only damage is to a propeller blade, duo to contact with the shingle when l>oing freed after grounding.
