A PRINCESS' VISITING CARD.
A visiting <-ard of a Siamese princess is one of the souvenirs which Mr John W. H. Piper, a mining engineer who has spent many years in Siam, has In his possession. The card is made of a pressed paJm leaf, cut into the shape of a normal European card. On one side is the name in English, c ‘Princess Poon Disked,” and on the other side the name is printed in Siamese. Mr Piper, who is a native of Christchurch and is revisiting the city after a long absence abroad, tells fascinating stories of Bangkok and its splendours. And he thinks that the' English-educated aristocrats of Siam are among the most cultured people >n the world, although their glory has faded since the/ abdication of the King of Siam.
