ABYSSINIANS ADMIT DEFEAT.

A communique admits the first defeat that has been acknowledged by either combatant, an effort by Has Seyouni to recapture Makale being repulsed after a day’s fighting owing to triple six-foot barbed wire entanglements against which the Abyssinians flung themselves, being mown down by machine-guns. ITALIAN CASUALTY LIST. ROME, February 10. The death-roll of Europeans during January totalled 440, of which 341 were killed in action. The European death-roll since the beginning of January last year is 884.
