Miss Rita Williams who was until vorv rerentlv a popular member of Mr G. Godfrey Taylor’s office stafT. lias been accepted by the Education Department to undergo a. teachers training course at Victoria University College. Wellington.
Miss Zona Stevens, who recently joined the telephone exchange staff at Pahiatua, was also accepted for teacher’s Training at the Victoria University College. Miss Stevens intends to retain her Post Office position, however.
Owing to the illness of Mr John Adams, caretaker of the Pahiatua baths, and the latter’s impending departure for Wellington, the swimming club have been called on to appoint a new custodian and last night Mr Jack Me Sherry was deputed to this position.
The Pahiatua Swimming Club postponed their weekly club carnival which had been arranged for last night as the weather was considered unfavourable. It was indicative of the keenness of the junior members that quite an army of children turned up at the baths so rather than disappoint them Messrs Irving and Harford staged a few impromptu events in which the kiddies took part with as much relish as if it had been the club night.
