WORK IN THE COUNTY.

OVERSEER S REPORT. ROADS AND BRIDGES. The overseer (Mr S. Macrae) reported at to-day's meeting of the Pahiatua# County Council as under: The teams have been employed on the highways, where metal has been dumped for winter use. The trucks have been employed in conjunction with the crusher on highways where metal has been delivered. Graders have been engaged on all highways where metal has been graded in and shoulders have been trimmed. MAIN HIGHWAYS. Paliiatua-Pongaroa: 600 subic yards or metal has been spread and grading has been carried out. Several dangerous wash-outs have been repaired. Makuri-Mangatoro: Pot-holes have been filled and road has been graded. Pahiatua-Mangaone: 300 cubic yards of metal has been spread where required and water-tables have been cleaned. COUNTY ROADS. Paliiatua-Ballance Gorge: Slip> have been removed and metal has been graded in. The Ballance iactory bridge has been repaired. Mangahao-Vailey : Scrub has been cut and grading has been attended to. Widening at the Bluff is proceeding. Palmerston Track: Slips have been lemoved. Makomako-Tutaekara; The new formation on the Mangamaire Hill has been metalled and traffic has been turned on to this work. A line ol 12-inch pipes has been extended with a view to widening a narrow bend. Kopikopiko-Nae Nae: General surface work has been attended to and the construction of a new culvert to replace an old structure has been commenced. Scarborough-Konini : Metal repairs have been carried out and road has been graded. Mangamaire-Pukewhai: Metal has been graded in and bridge decks nave been repaired. Ridge Central: Water-tables on metalled section have been cleaned. Rock-Makakahi: Slips have been removed and the fillings at the Junction and Redmond’s bridges are proceeding. Mangaramarama-Tiraumea North: Pot-holes have l>een filled and water-tables have been cleaned. Ruawhata . Slips have been removed and metal has been graded in. \\ idening at a dangerous point is proceeding. Tiraumea North: Surface patching has been carried out and overhanging willows have been cut. All loose metal has been graded in. Oete-Ngaturi: Grading has l>een attended to and bridge decks have been re pa i red. Kohinui-Towai: Surface patching has been completed and slips have been removed. A line of 18-inch pipes will be laid to replace a wooden culvert whii h has collapsed. Ngaturi township: Two g ous wash-outs have been repaired. Pori-Kaitawa Ridge: Slips have been removed and overhanging scrub has been cut. Tiraumea Valley: Slips have been removed and water-tables have been cleaned. Material has been ordered for the renewal of Ma 1 mam he's bridge. Kaitawa township: 50 cubic yards o' metal has been spread and scrub has been cut.
