THE HUNTLY COAL STRIKE.
EFFORTS FOR CONCILIATION. Electric Telegraph—Press Association HAMILTON. January 31. Pending discussions of conciliatory measures proposed by the Alin Owners’ Federation and endorsed by the Alinisttr of AJines. over 900 men employed in the Hunily coalfields are still idle. It is stated that the management of the AlacDonald Aline is prepared to withdraw the machinery temporarily until a disputes committee consisting of the representatives of the employers and three union representatives have considered the question. At a meeting of 250 miners at Huntly this morning a resolution was passed favouring the submission ol the dispute to a special committee. It is under stood that the men will return to work pending the decision of the committee, but no final decision can be made until meetings are held in other centres this afternoon.
