WHITE SLAVE HORRORS.
REVEALED BY MAN S DEATH.
VICTIM OF RIVAL GANGSTERS
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 30. The Daily Alail says the death oi Alax Kassel, whose bullet-riddled body was found under a hedge at St. Albans, exposed him as the leader of an international gang of white slave traffickers, whose ramifications extend from Mayfair to the Continent, Australia and Canada, and as a marriage-broker who installed the girls he imported in luxurious West End flats.
It is learned that, under another name, he served a sentenc e of eight mouths’ imprisonment in France in connection with the transportation d? a girl to Brazil. It is certain that his death was the climax to a vendetta or gang feud. The London jjolice are working on the theory that he was “put on the spot! 7 because he knew too much about rival gangs and was about to squeal to the police.
A London cable dated January 25 stated that the discovery of the bul-let-riddlecl body of a scar-faced elderly man under a hedge at St. Albans and subsequent investigations indicated that traditional Chicago gangster methods had at last been adopted in England, possibly as the outcome of a race gang feud.
