BOXING NOTES.

In a letter to the writer this morning, Mr Bert O Keefe says: “1 am quite prepared to allow Joe Collins, the Manawatu bantam champion, to fignt Henry Stock, of Auckland, although I hear the latter is very hot stuff. Collins is a fighting Irishman, and the battle will please the fans. Hans Christensen will fight Bradbury. He is 9st 71bs and is a tough customer, with a good punch. Charlie Foster will fight Russ Page. He has had four fights—lost one and won three. If Page is in one of his slugging moods it will be the fight of the evening. You can guarantee the Pahiatua fans that with Collins, Christensen and Foster there will bo plenty of gore, and that is what the fans like. Give my regards to the lads over there. J hope that Harold R eevo is fit and well. -H© will need to be at his best as Nicol is a solid puncher, with a good straight right and follows through with his right. Keeps coming in, and he is strong and tough. It tough. It should be a great fight.” Saw Hilly Withey and Billy Aitken box three three-minute rounds in Tim Tracey’s gymnasium last night. It was a stirring, ding-dong fight, very fast and plenty of action. There was some particularly hard hitting, and the belligerents were loudly applauded by a big “gallery.” Withey has improved out of sight. Tim Tracey, who will be in his corner, offered to bet me a box of cigars that Withey would be on his feet at the end of the six two-minutes’ combat. Nothing doing; Tim is too good a, judge. Our old friend, ‘‘Trader’’ Horne, who was present at the scrap, was greatly impressed by Wjthey’s performance.
