FIGHTING IN CHINA.
NOTORIOUS BANDIT BUSY. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—-Copyright. LONDON, January 28. Tlio Times’ Peking correspondent says fighting occurred near here today in the vicinity of the Ming tombs, between Sungchehyuan's troops and marauders believed to be stragglers from a bandit force under the notorious Loukweitang, who recently looted liis way down the western border of Hopei into northern Honan after ravaging part of the demilitarised zone. Liukweitang, since bis exploits in 1934. when lie eluded the pursuit of nearly half a million regulars in six provinces, has been living in the Japanese concession in Tientsin. His return to his old haunts is causing alarm owing to tin- Chinese belief that be plans the autonomy of the five northern provinces including a portion, of Honan, northward of the Yellow river. Liukweitang also appears intent on entering Shantung through Southern Hopei General Manfuchu. Governor of Shantung, to-day offered a reward of 50.000 dollars tor Link \u it .tug’s capture dead or alive.
