AMERICA MOURNS.
DEAD KING HONOURED FAR AND WIDE.
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK. January 28.
Memorial services were held in several churches. There were particularly impressive ceremonies in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The tolling of the bells, the closing of British business houses and the postponement of the opening of the Stock Exchange and other business exchanges marked the observance of the funeral of King George. The British community, led by the Consul-General, Sir Gerald Campbell, and including a few representatives of other Dominions, attended the Cathedral services.
At W asbington memorial services were held in the Washington Cathedral. Mrs Roosevelt was escorted by the British Ambassador, Sir Ronald Lindsay, into the church, followed by Lady Lindsay and members of the Embassy staff, the vice-president and Mrs Garner, several members of the Supreme Court, other officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
