GOVERNMENT DETERMINED.
WORK MUST GO THROUGH. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. “We have fought Life’s battle long enough to know the magnitude of the task that lies ahead of us and the responsibility thrust upon us,” said the Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, at a reception in his honour at Kilbirnie by his constituents of Wellington East to-night. “We have the courage to do the job and no obstacle will stop us,” he said. The Minister’s allusion was to the work in prospect for the Labour Government in the months to come. He stated that his journeying round the country since hi a elevation to Cabinet rank had disclosed that there were barriers to the Government’s programme and pitfalls in its path. “As T. have said before,” added Mr Semple, “if there is .an obstacle it will be removed. There is no force that will stop us getting through with our work.”
