IN HONOUR OF THE LATE KING.

A Wellington reader has forwarded the following Hues written the day following the receipt of the news of”the death of King George, when the capital city reflected "the shadow of an angel passing and many flags dropped to half mast as the bells tolled out the knell” of a much loved King. “KING GEORGE V.” (An Angel Pas see.) A shadow crossed—city— and waters wide. Whilst he, our King, gently laid aside Diadem, resplendent Royal gown. To humbly take—another crown. As the angel passed—the bell did toll. “Peace, sweet peace, to the King's loyal soul.” All flags dropped down, as rang the knell With saddened notes, of the city’s bell. “The King passes, as the Angel past.” The breezes hushed—he rests —at last!
