PAHIATUA SHOW.

ARRANGEMENTS FINALISED. MANY NEW MEMHERS. A meeting of the committee of the Pahiatua A. and P. Association was held in the office ol the secretary (Mr J. A. Walsh) yesterday afternoon, when there were present Messrs F. E. Ward (who presided), J. Algie, J. Campbell, JtdL. Cotter, C. J. Eising, R. C. Yates, W. Fulton, J. Bambry, A. Finlay, T. Daysh H. R. Wilton, 8.. Draper, A. R. Wylie, A. P. Jensen, J. Cotter, F. wr Blatchford and G. R. Allan.

A very large amount of correspondence was read and dealt with. A letter in reference to a publicrisk insurance on Show Day was left in the hands of the president and secretary, with power to act.

NEW MEMBERS. The following new members were elected: Messrs J. Milne Allan, F. T. Anderson (Ngaturi), Colin Harvey (Manga tainoka), Mrs J. Dick (Ngaturi), J. Spring (Nireaha), J. S. Dick (Ngaturi), Melville Priest (Ngaturi), Erie Olsen (Kohinui) and Stewart Taylor (Mangatamoka). The secretary acknowledged the assistance Mr J. Campbell was giving him in securing new members and the chairman said that he was very pleased to see so many new members, which was a very good sign and showed that interest was being taken in the show. He ventured the opinion that many more would join if they were only approached in the right way, and expressed the hope that each member of the committee might secure one new member at least. The secretary announced that Mr W. R. Taylor had donated two guineas towards the prize fund. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Taylor for his generous donation. Votes of thanks were also passed to Messrs G. G. Hill and W. C. Coldic-utt for recent donations.

In connection with the Young Farmers Clubs judging competitions it was resolved that the winning contestants should give an oral statement to the respective judges explaining their reasons tor placing the exhibits. Mr Cotter informed the meeting that the Young Farmers* Club members intended .assisting at the parade as leaders of stock and attendants. The meeting expressed its appreciation of this friendly and helpful gesture. J± was decided to leave all the arrangements for the parade in the hands of Messrs F. V. Bryant, R. C. ' A * P- Jensen and B. Draper. J he question of accepting a tender for the blocks for the chopping competitions was left in the hands of Messrs H. Cotter, \Y. Fulton and Daysh. Only one tender was received—Mr J. Curtin, Pakowhai. Napier, 2s 6d jx*r block, willow, on rails at Hastings, and it was decided to accept same. Ph 3 matter of procuring sheep for the dog trials was left, in the hands 11 r - while that of the installation ol a loud speaker for the purpose of broadcasting the results of the various events was left with Mr G. R. Allan. Arrangements for paddocking visiting stock was left with Mr Cotter and Mr Finlav. wlnle Mr Ward, with the assistance of Mr (‘otter, will meet the trains. Mr Cotter kindly offeied to make arrangements for two sheep and a tat beast for the guessing competitions.

Jhe meeting unanimous]v decided to form a working-bee of all the members of the executive, to meet 011 Wednesday, Februarv 12th. The erection of the hurdles and the brush therefor were left in the hands of Messrs W. Adams and Erie Olsen.

The meeting was a lengthy one and characterised by a fair amount ot quiet enthusiasm.
