MR C, A. H. BEETHAM S HOUSE DESTROYED. On Wednesday Mr C. A. H. Beeth" am left his farm at Pori to pay a \is it to his parents at Mas ter toil, and on his return last night was horrified to find his l-omestead razed t-c the ground and just a smouldering mass remaining >1 what had been a fine homestead The cause of the file is a mystery Air Beetham left everything in order when he started out for Masterton, and during bis absence no one was ledt in charge of the house. It is understood thTat the homes tea d was intact at 5 o’clock on Saturday night,
and the fire apparently began some time after dark or early oil Sunday morn ing.
The house is insured for £750 in the State Office, and there is a cove; of £IOO on Mr Bee tli a ill's effects in the same offeie. Air Beethaim’s house lies back in a maze of hills and cannot be seen readily from the road, the* nearest neighbour being; about a mile away The lire, if it took place late at night, would burn without attracting any attention in these circumstances.
