The Japanese Consul at Nan|Ri'i>g has been instructed to address a “serious warning’’ to the Chinese Government against the anti-Japan-ese agitation, while the Japanese Consul-General at Shanghai made representations to the Chinese -authorities about scattering antiJapanese leaflets which read: “Down with Japanese Imperialism! Let us join the Soviets!*' Five hundred armed Japanese 1 luejackets are reported to have landed at Shanghai from the transport Shiretoko. but the Japanese deny that any forcible action is contemplated at Shanghai, declaring that the Shiretoko left Japan before the present tension in accordance with the annual programme.
