DROWNED AT W A IRQ A. Electric Telegraph—l"ress Association W'AIROA, This Day. Due to. a canoe capsizing at about 5.30 on Saturday evening King! Rarauria, aged 82, was precipitated into the Wtiiroa River and drowned. The accident was witnessed by a. young boy six years who was unable to assist in any way apart from giving the alarm. It was then too late to aid the deceased. The body was discovered later and at the inquest a verdict of accidental drowning was returned.
The deceased was one of the bestknown and most popular Maoris *n the district.
