ITALIANS’ OUTBURST.

MR. EDEN ATTACKED.

VIRULENT PRESS CAMPAIGN. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copy r i gh t. ROME. May 29. A virulent Press campaign has been waged against Britain ever since it could no longer be concealed that Britain was not unanimously in favour of the Italian policy towards Abyssinia. An editorial in the newspaper Eve re, entitled “Our Friends the English.” in which Mr Anthony Eden is scurrilously attacked after declaring the enormous difference between the British and Italian races, especially regarding civilisation, says: “Italy will never be capable of introducing civilisation into Africa with the methods used in 1901 by Lord Roberts in the Transvaal, which even school chilclien know included burning factories, crops and flocks, and sending women and children to concentration camps.” The paper reproduces a French cartoon of the South African war showing British soldiers kicking and mishandling women and children.
