Mrs M. Sargent. of Makornako. was the recipient of many good wishes when sine celebrated her 80th birthday recently. Members of the family and friends assembled for the occasion. The SchcoJ Comm it tee met recently and decided to hold tlie annual school picnic on 23rd mst. Many visitors are expected. The school roil is now 18. Since Pccenil»er 21. over 9in. of rain have been re<*orded at Atakomako. For the month of January the total was 5 inches. Recent visitors to the settlement •have been Mr and Mrs G. Ball of Maxterton. and Mr W. .1. Sargent, of Wellington. Alr< W. F Day, wh? has been laid aside tor some time, is now on the way to recovery. Aliss .1. Garlick has also lecovored from her illness. Mr and Airs H. <arg**nt and familv. of Wanganui >i>©m .t holiday in this district^
