WOODVILLE NEWS.

At the quarterly meeting ol Court Woodville, A.0.F., Sister Cann presided. The Woodwards reported that four members were on the sick list. From the district executive was received a. circular letter relating to the triennial meeting in February, to be held at Palmerston North, and also in reference to the centenary celebrations to take place at the same time. The district will be represented at the High Court centenary celebrations at Nottingham early in August. The last published returns show: Number of courts, 4101 ; number of benefit members, 635,457 ; total funds, £'16,128,719. Bro. R. Bly reported on the success of the Christmas tree, and complimented members of the committee on the way it was carried out. Special thanks were accorded Sister Pilcher and Bros. S._ Clark and J. Sullivan for their services. Mr and Mrs C. E. Bailey, of Bulls, spent the week-end in Woodville.

Mr D. Keay, Town Clerk, who has been on a health recruiting trip, lias returned home. Mr and Mrs J. M. Graham, accompanied by their son and daughter, are visiting Wellington. Mrs IT". P. Nelson, of Cambridge, is visiting Papatawa and is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. S. Nelson, of “Roscdale.” Mr and Mrs O. G. Sincock, of Woodville, are visiting Auckland and Rotorua. The friends of Mrs G. W. Davidson will be pleased to learn of a slight improvement in her condition.

Miss E Croak, of Petone, is visiting Woodville as the guest of the Rev. and Mrs Knowles-Smith. Several girls of the Woodville Holy Trinity Church" Girls’ Bible Class are attending the Anglican Girls’ Bible Class camp at Havelock North. The Methodist Church was crowded on Christmas night when the Young People’s Bible Class presented the spectacular tableau. 1 ‘Jesus Christ, the Hope of the World.” This was especially arranged by Rev. G. Knowles-Smith to illustrate the influence of Christianity in the world. The young people aoouitted themselves well both in speech and song and the evening proved enjoyable and educational as well as contributing substantially to the church funds.
