WIN FOR PAHIATUA.

MATCH WITH ALFREDTON. During the week-end the locai club met Alfredton and won a two-innings game by six wickets. The boisterous weather ot last week gave way to pleasant conditions and a most enjoyable game ensued. The playing area, which had been mown two days previously at the club’s expense, still leaves room for improvement. Only until the grass is closely cut and kept so, can players fully enjoy the pleasures of this popolar sport that lately has been growing in popularity. A mid-morn-ing start was made with Alfredton winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Eor the visitors, Judd was the only one to reach double figures. His half century total vas a verybrilliant performance. He was still unbeaten at the close of the innings and appeared to withstand the onslaught- of McKay much, tetter than his team mates. Jack McKay proved very deadly by taking eight wickets for 27 runs. This bowler loses none of his dash and more will be heard of him in the future. For the home side the- two "Wilsons added material strength to their slides score—their combined totals being three-fourths of the full tally. Christianson, O’Sullivan and Cutts also hatted well. Judd, with the assistance of Bird. R. Weston and Graham shared the bowling honours. The visitors’ scores in the second innings were more evenly distributed and several obtained double figures. Once again McKay made his presence felt by capturing 4 wickets. He was ably assisted by O’Sullivan and Cutts. With only 35 minutes to call of time Pahiatua event in for their second strike with a deficiency of 60 runs to make up McKay pasted the howling and the visitors' total was passed some few minutes before 6.30 o’clock. R. Weston’s bowling average of 4 for 20 was a fine performance. ■ A return game will be played at a future date, at Alfredton. Following are the scores:— ALFREDTON—Ist innings. A. Bird, eA.
